USE OF THIS CALCULATOR WITH A MAINS ADAPTOR OTHER THAN THE CASIO MAINS ADAPTOR, INVALIDATES THE GUARANTEE. a) Dry battery operation Two AA size manganese dry batteries (SUM-3) give about 10 hours continuous operation. A decrease in battery power is indicated by ‘‘0.” recurring on the display, or when only one figure is bright. Renew the batteries with power switched off. Remove dead batteries at once or when not in regular use take out the batteries to prevent leakage. Switch power off after use or when opening the battery cover. re SS 2/IMPORTANTE 2-1 FUNCIONAMIENTO CON BATERIAS SECAS DESCARTABLES, BATERIAS RECARGABLES DE NIQUEL CADMIO O CA Este calculador Funciona con baterias secas des- cartables, baterias recargables 0 con CA, usando un adaptador para CA. A decrease in battery power is indicated by the same phenomenon as above. To charge the power pack, load it into the calculator and plug the appli- cable AC adaptor (100, 117, 220 or 240V) into an AC , outlet and the cord into the unit, leaving the switch in the “OFF” position. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge the power pack ready for another period of operation. c) AC operation Use only an adaptor with the same voltage rating (100, 117, 220 or 240V) as your power supply to prevent component damage. If in doubt, ask your local dealer. Plug the AC adaptor into the AC outlet and the cord into the calculator. When connected to the calculator during normal AC operation, it also works as a charger and will automatically keep charging the rechargeable power pack. b) Funcionamiento con baterias re- cargables Con un paquete de baterias totalmente recargables de Niquel-Cadmio (Tipo NP-2M), el aparato funciona continuamente por aproximadamente 6 horas. 4 Notes on rechargeable battery power pack: * Use the AC adaptor for initial operation on the rechargeable power pack or when the power pack has been out of use for 2 or 3 months. * Do not keep charging the fully charged power pack because the storage capacity of electricity may decrease. * It is necessary to replace the power pack when its life decreases to half the original. * It is dangerous to throw the power pack into a fire or to attempt to disassemble it. * Never allow the battery terminals to short; ex- cessive current will flow, causing heat. * Avoid loading wet batteries. Thoroughly wipe them and allow a few minutes to dry before loading. * Be careful not to give a heavy impact to the battery’s G terminal or to drop the power pack; it may become inoperative. * Should the power pack projection be broken, re- place with a new power pack. Use of a substitute or repaired power pack may cause machine troubles. . 2-2 CALCULATION RANGE AND SCIENTIFIC NOTATION —9.999999X 10°" —10° — NORMAL DISPLAY YY), 8C\ENT\F\C NOTATION 2-2 CALCULOS Y NOTACIONES CIENTIFICAS 0 10% 10° 9.9999999X 10°° PRESENTACION NORMAL NOTACIONES CIENTIFICAS @ El signo menos (—) para la mantisa @ The minus (—) sign for mantissa @ The mantissa — 1.234567 —99 { 11 @ La mantisa @ The minus (-) sign for exponent @ The exponent of ten The whole display is read: —1.234567x10-°° Entry can also be made in the form of scientific nota- tion by using the &@ key.
